Ocean Beach Celebrates its Inaugural Blues Fest

Come on down! The OB Blues Fest will feature some of San Diego’s finest blues acts, including VizzTone recording artist Casey Hensley, the legendary Queen of Boogie Woogie Sue Palmer (formerly with Candye Kane’s band), slide guitar master and blues historian Robin Henkel, The Queen of Steam Michele Lundeen plus local blues guitarists Laura Chavez, Jimmy Woodard, Steve Wilcox, and Victor Franklin to name just a few.
The OB Blues Fest is also featuring April West and Jonny Viau. Two of the finest trombone and sax players around. Manzanita Blues Band opens the show. A six-piece powerhouse blues group that are monthly regulars at Humphrey’s Backstage lounge.
The event will be hosted by former Jazz 88.3 DJ Janine Harty. She is also the president of BLUSD (Blues Lovers United San Diego). BLUSD is a nonprofit membership-driven 501c3 corporation, affiliated with the Blues Foundation of Memphis, Tennessee.
The OB Blues Fest is produced by OB locals Paul Bolton (Electric Playground) and Ric Lee (drummer and band leader from the Bayou Brothers,  (Bayou Brothers Productions). Paul and Ric hope are already thinking about including more OB venues for the 2023 OB Blues Fest.
OB Blues Fest, Sunday, November 7, 7:30 pm at Winston’s Beach Club, 1921 Bacon St., Ocean Beach. Admission is $12.
