Live Bluegrass Events are Back!

Looking for live bluegrass? HHere are the Thursday Night Pickers who gather to jam every Thursday night in Encinitas. Read on!

At last, we can look forward to quality in-person bluegrass music festivals. Here are some great opportunities.
Father Day Grass Valley Festival Produced by the California Bluegrass Association.
This venerable festival has been held annually, Covid years excepted, in Grass Valley, California and is back again for 2022. Camping, vendors, good food, and outstanding musical acts are all on the bill. To be held June 16-19 at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley, Della Mae, Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper, the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band, Don Flemons, and lots more will be there performing. The annual Summergrass Festival will take place here in San Diego at the Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum in Vista over the weekend of August 19-21. There will be a Kids Music Camp, vendors, camping, excellent food, workshops, and more. Booked so far are Danny Paisley and Southern Grass, John Moore and Friends, Fast Track, Volume Five, Phil Salazar and Kinfolk, and more. For info and tickets:

First Tuesday of the month
The North San Diego County Bluegrass and Folk Club holds an open mic, jamming session, and featured band presentation at the Round Table Pizza in Escondido at the corner of Washington and Ash. Read more at the NCBFC website:
Second Tuesday of the Month
Every second Tuesday of the month the San Diego Bluegrass Society hosts an open mic, jam and pick-up band session at the Mainstream Bar and Grill in Poway. Read the details on the SDBS website:
Every Thursday of the month
Join the Thursday Night Pickers for a jam session at the Round Table Pizza in Encinitas in the shopping center at the corner of El Camino Real and Encinitas Blvd. Read more here: Check ‘em out in the photo above.
Third Monday of the Month
If you would like to learn how to play and sing bluegrass music and would enjoy learning it at a slowed-down learnable pace, this is for you. The SDBS holds a structured slow jam every third Monday wherein they slow down classic bluegrass tunes and help you learn them. For specifics visit the SDBS website:
Fourth Sunday of the Month
Every fourth Sunday of the month SDBS sponsors an open jam session at the Duck Foot Brewery at 8920 Kenamar Dr, #210, in the Miramar area of San Diego. For details, check the SDBS website:
