Local Talent Takes the SDMA Stage at Humphrey’s Tonight

After a last-minute rain delay, tonight’s much-anticipated San Diego Music Awards will take place at Humphrey’s by the Bay. In its 23rd year, the event recognizes the achievements of San Diego’s diverse local music community, this year in 27 categories that recognize genres including Rock, Jazz, Hip Hop, Americana and World Music. Past performers include Jewel, Jason Mraz, Switchfoot, P.O.D., and Nickel Creek. The San Diego Music Awards is the primary fundraising vehicle for Guitars for Schools. This program, developed by the San Diego Music Foundation and Taylor Guitars, introduces the guitar to public elementary, middle, and high school music curriculum in San Diego County, both as a way to augment existing programs and to offset the loss of arts instruction due to budget cuts.
