Summergrass San Diego, Southern California’s most exciting bluegrass music festival, is happening August 19-21, at the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum, 2040 North Santa Fe Road, Vista, a fascinating 40-acre outdoor museum displaying rural American culture. Adult Boot Camp returns Friday, August 19 before the festival begins. Adult intermediate to advanced players are welcome. Each camp registrant will sign up for one of the following instrument classes: Banjo, Dennis Caplinger; Guitar, John Moore; Mandolin, Chris Henry; Fiddle, Tom Cunningham.

Raffle Prizes for 2016
Summergrass will be offering great raffle prizes for this year’s festival. A Martin guitar, Deering banjo, Loar mandolin, and handmade quilt will be offered.
Teach Your Child to Play Bluegrass Music
Summergrass announces a very special Bluegrass Kids Camp, which will take place August 19-20-21, during the festival at the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum. Kids Camp will conclude on Sunday with a 30-minute finale on the festival main stage, where the Kids Camp kids are the stars! You won’t want to miss this Sunday show which is always a favorite.
First Annual Pie Society Meeting at Summergrass 2016
Come and be part of the first annual Pie Society Tasting, which takes place on Thursday, August 18, from 2-3pm at Glen Bailey’s camp. Interested pie makers may bring a homemade pie to share. Pie lovers can come and have a slice of pie for a small donation. No winners, competition, or prizes, just a gathering to celebrate and discuss homemade pie in all its goodness. Pickers Alert! Band Scramble and Thursday Nite Pickers Gathering
On Thursday, August 18 the Summergrass Band Scramble takes place from 4-6pm, where pickers gather to be randomly grouped into band ensembles and play a couple of tunes on the Summergrass mainstage. Glen Bailey and Rose Scibelli will be hosting this activity. Also, the Third Annual Thursday Nite Pickers Anniversary Party will happen later that same night and will celebrate 32 years and the 1,600th performance of “Truck Driving Man.” As Glen explained, “We almost have it down.” Contact Glen at santaglen@cox.net for more information and to sign up!
