Local Filmmaker to Release Lester Bangs Documentary
San Diego Troubadour contributor Raul Sandelin needs your help! The Grossmont College English professor has tackled the challenge of producing a DVD documentary about Lester Bangs, a 60’s/70’s rock journalist whose teenage years were spent freelance writing for Rolling Stone from his mom’s apartment in El Cajon.
The importance of Sandelin’s film extends beyond a tribute to Bangs; it captures an important piece of San Diego history during one of the most vibrant musical eras ever seen in our country. You can read more about Sandelin’s project here.
Sandelin hopes to release the documentary sometime in October, and is currently seeking funding for the project via a Kickstarter campaign. Check out the video below and donate here!
