Music on the Mountain

Julian is one of San Diego’s crown jewels
A year ago the vacant lot on the corner of Highway 78 and Main Street in Julian began its transformation from eye sore to a vibrant community town square. Last year’s kick-off concert in June launched a busy year of events for the new park, which also hosted an Octoberfest and an annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. The Julian Community Heritage Foundation is pleased to announce that the June concert will now be an annual event, now called the Julian Town Square Music Festival. The all-day concert, which will take place from 10am to 6pm on June 3, will raise funds for a permanent stage, park development, and landscaping at the Julian Town Square. The event will feature music by Calamity, the Fremonts, the Sea Monks, Gregory Page, the Bree Jones Band, and Nathan James and the Rhythm Scratchers, with Tyler Stamts officiating throughout the day. Along with the fantastic music lineup, there will be vendors with crafts, games, food, and beverages raffles and a silent auction.

Located in the middle of the Julian town site, the new town square is the ideal venue for community gatherings and events. Envisioned as a place to bring the people of Julian together, both locals and visitors alike, the park is planned to host farmer’s markets, art shows, music and theater performances, outdoor yoga, history lectures, and so much more. The project is being managed by the not-for-profit Julian Community Heritage Foundation, a group founded in 2017 and comprised of volunteers working to bring the town square project to life. The project needs help from the San Diego community to continue its fundraising goals in order to complete park construction.

Julian a jewel in the San Diego County crown. I don’t know anyone that has not been to Julian It’s where we go when we want to go for a drive or for a piece of apple pie. We take out-of-town visitors to see the historic sites, pick apples, hike, and camp. It’s where we go when it first snows, for the awesome 4th of July parade, and many music events.

The Julian Town Square Project is how you can give back to the community and town that has given us so much
