On Saturday, June 20th Robb Bower Presents will bring its 17th year of great live blues back to the beautiful 100-year-old Menghini Winery in Julian, California.
Bower is very excited about his annual Julian Blues Bash. The fantastic Bayou Brothers on the Back Porch Stage will be on board to keep the music jumpin’ all day. Chet and the Committee open the show… smooth swinging! The McCoy Brothers Band will be on board, too. Bower and company have been getting ready for this for a while now and they can’t wait to take that stage and bring it to you.
It’ll be a fun-filled day for the whole family and especially blues lovers. More like a family reunion than any other music festival in Southern California. It’s laid back and fun for the entire family !!
Affordable great food choices and drinks available, fun vendors, and chance to win a Epiphone SG electric guitar as well as other prizes.
The gates open at 10am, with the music starting at 11am and continuing until 7pm.
Tickets, performers videos, a map, and more info are available on our website www.robb-bowerpresents.com Tickets in advance are $30 and $35 the day of the show; kids 12 years old and under are free; teenagers from 13 to 17 years old are only $5; and all active and retired military (with their spouses) — with an ID — get in for only $20 each.
There’s free parking as well !!
This year features the three Kings of the Blues. Two of the performers are Boscoe France and Jonathan Boogie Long, who have previously won the Guitar Center / Gibson Nationwide “King of the Blues” contest. The third, a local favorite, Gino Matteo was the runner up. We think he, too, is a King of the Blues.
Gino has been out on tour almost constantly. Touring Europe and the States with Sugar Ray & Co., he speaks of the newest CD they cut together and was very excited, writing and playing all the greasy guitar parts !!
Boscoe opened for the late B.B. King recently and said he was humbled. Talk about a notch on your guitar strap! Also his recent documentary, Shoeless Blues, has been playing on PBS all over the country. It’s a great story about a father, his love for his family, and his musical journey. Quite touching, I must say.
And last but not least there’s Jonathan Boogie Long. Playing up and down the eastern seaboard, blowing folks minds, playing a scorching set at the New Orleans Jazz Fest, making people sit up and notice and recently opening for ZZ Top! Would liked to have been a fly sitting on a roadcase for that show.
When these three blues masters close the show together, the guitars will be on fire! So if you’re a guitarist or a blues fan, you’ll want to be there to witness this musical first. Robb and company look forward to seeing you on the mountain!
