Guitar Workshops by Wayne Riker Now Available

August 2012

Hello Troubadourians!

We recently came across new information from local musician, instructor and friend Wayne Riker that we thought we’d pass along. Wayne will be resuming guitar workshops in September and beyond in San Diego. Wayne has taught privately since 1973, beginning in New York City (’73 and ’74), Topeka, Kansas (’75-’78), Rochester, Minnesota (’79), and now in San Diego (since 1980), having taught a virtual who’s who in the past and present San Diego music scene. He has become recognized as a well-known guitar clinician and educator throughout the world as a senior faculty member with The National Guitar Workshop (1990-2006), coincided with his instructional columns in Guitar Player, Acoustic
Guitar, Premier Guitar and Acoustic Musician magazines, along with his nine instructional books and two instructional DVD’s with Alfred Publishing’s Workshop Arts series, which have been successful learning tools for many students around the globe.

A minimum of six positive responses will generate these events. The primary topic covered will be Expanding Your Guitar Vocabulary for Songwriting. Wayne explains, “Having taught and mentored numerous singer/songwriters over 32 years here in San Diego, the biggest gap for many is having limited fretboard and theoretical knowledge. In a three hour workshop, at a minimal fee, I can increase your songwriting options dramatically with great handouts, all TAB & DIAGRAM friendly, with new options in chord voicings, chord scales, chord progressions, chord substitutions, arrangements, picking hand techniques, open tuning options and fretboard dynamics. You’ll have great informational handouts that will be invaluable reference material to augment your songwriting possibilities on guitar for years to come.”
